Renault’s sporting unit, Renaultsport, is about to debut their reinforced version of the Megane at this seasons’s Geneva auto show in March. As with any hot-hatch, the new Renaultsport Megane will have unique styling that may stress the auto’s sporting ability.

The exterior will draw inspiration from the Megane prize race vehicle, which debuted at last year’s Paris motor show, and many of the more engaging features of that automobile will be carried over, including the aero blade styling on the front air intake, a radical rear fender treatment and a center mounted exhaust. Reports also indicate the vehicle will have flared wheel arches and a wider track, both of that may help set it except for the more conventional version of the Megane.

Power will come from the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that is employed in this Renault Megane R26, but output is expected to extend by twenty bhp for a total of 250bhp.

Early guesstimates suggest that when equipped with a six-speed manual, the new Renaultsport Megane should be capable of hitting 62mph in 6 seconds flat. The electrical power steering has been recalibrated to supply the driver improved feel and bigger accuracy. Look for the new Renaultsport Megane to go up for sale this summer with pricing anticipated to be published closer to launch.
